New unemployment figures released today show an unexpected rise in new claims. Yet for those looking for work, there is hope.
“There are jobs available now,” says Mike Flanagan, author of Hollywood Jobs. “People just need to learn how to find them.” Flanagan has helped thousands of people find work in broadcasting, film and video post-production. His mantra is “Fighting the Tyranny of the Unemployed.” He helps people in all industries find work.
“With unemployment still near record levels, understanding how to find work is vital,” notes Flanagan.” Las Vegas has a near 13-percent unemployed rate and Flanagan wants to help that number drop dramatically. Included in the seminar is a panel discussion of finding work in today’s economy with local Las Vegas career experts. The event will give practical tips on how to find work in today’s economy. “For example, more jobs are being created with the new technology and media showcased this week at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention in town than ever before,” adds Flanagan. “Hollywood jobs (editors, graphic designers and animation professionals) are growing throughout the country in video games, Internet video and other entertainment industries. My techniques will work in any field from sales to executive positions.”
According to Flanagan, most people looking for work spend less than two hours a week looking for that new opportunity. “And when people do look, they use Internet job sites that don’t work.”
The free workshop will teach strategies Flanagan has developed in 15 plus years of hands on research. In addition to writing books, Flanagan teaches classes on finding jobs and is an entrepreneur. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska and graduated from Cornell Law School.
